While an Adam Brody renaissance isn’t an event we predicted in 2024, it’s certainly not one we’re mad about. Ever since his return to our screens as Noah – aka the Hot Rabbi – in Netflix’s Nobody Wants This, the internet has been firmly aboard the Adam Brody train.
Of course, if you’ve been around since The OC days, Brody's appeal isn’t exactly news. In fact, our first parasocial romance with one of Brody’s characters harks all the way back to 2003, when he first came to our attention as loveable nerd Seth Cohen.
Whether you’ve been around since the beginning, or are experiencing a present-day awakening, there’s no denying Adam Brody has charisma in spades. And if you've already burned through Nobody Wants This, there's no need to be left wanting. Below, we’re rounding up Adam Brody’s best roles, from loveable boyfriend to actual superhero. Start planning your weekend watch-list.
Seth Cohen, The OC
one day you’re 14 daydreaming about Adam Brody’s fictional character and next thing you know you’re 34 daydreaming about Adam Brody’s fictional character#NobodyWantsThis pic.twitter.com/mjCVC5WucW

Obviously, we're kicking off our catalogue with Seth Cohen, aka our very first internet boyfriend. The dorky heartthrob won our hearts over for his self-deprecating wit and comic book passion, as well as his undying (though sometimes poorly executed) love for Summer Roberts.
Dave Rygalski, Gilmore Girls
Seeing a lot of Seth Cohen love on the TL lately but let’s not forget Adam Brody on Gilmore Girls as the most perfect boyfriend ever, Dave Rygalski pic.twitter.com/muLCu00Ysw

Before there was Seth Cohen or Noah Roklov, there was Dave Rygalski. In season three of Gilmore Girls, Brody scored a recurring role as Rygalski, the beloved (though brief) boyfriend of Lane Kim (Keiko Angena). While the character was ultimately written out, we'll always have fond memories of the lengths Rygalski went to to win over Kim (aka reading the whole bible in one night just to be able to take her to prom).
Man, Some Girl(s)
#NobodyWantsThis fun fact: adam brody and kristen bell have been (sort of) paired together before in the really good movie Some Girl(s) (2013). pic.twitter.com/W0pgzFdv20

Believe it or not, Nobody Wants This isn't the first time Brody and Kristen Bell have starred as love interests. In Some Girl(s), Brody plays an unnamed writer who visits his ex-girlfriends (one of the being Bobbi, played by Bell) in an attempt to make amends on the eve of his wedding. We'll admit, these characters don't have quite the same chemistry as Noah and Joanne, but we still kicked our feet seeing the actors reunited on screen.
Jerry, Promising Young Woman
Unlike his most famous roles, Brody's character in Promising Young Woman is far from likeable. As it turns out, that was a deliberate choice by the film's director, Emerald Fennel. Brody plays Jerry, a man who attempts to take advantage of a seemingly drunk Cassie (Carey Mulligan). In order to demonstrate just how sinister Jerry is, he, like every other evil male character in the movie, is played by an actor formally known for portraying a loveable on-screen larrikin.
Daniel Le Domas, Ready Or Not
Another slightly more complicated character is Daniel Le Domas, in the 2019 horror film, Ready Or Not. While we won't give too much away, the film follows the wealthy Le Domas family, who force new in-laws to take part in a (sometimes murderous) game on their wedding night. Needless to say, it's one of the more gripping movies in Brody's repertoire.
Barry Allen, Shazam! Fury Of The Gods

Further demonstrating his range, Brody also brought to life an actual superhero, as Barry in Shazam! Fury Of The Gods. He played opposite actress Rachel Zegler who admitted Brody was actually her childhood crush. "I had a crush on his character from Gilmore Girls ... So I told him. I was like, 'I just wanted you to know... I need to get this out of my head: I was in love with you,'" she told SlashFilm.
Proving he really might be the best guy in Hollywood, she also shared, "He was so sweet about it. He gave me so many behind-the-scenes [things] about Gilmore Girls, and how they really nailed down the fast-talking, and how much he loved Keiko [Agena], who played Lane, and how much he loved working on the show."
