Our days with Dior. Seventy Years of Haute Couture, an art-meets-fashion gala, and the best food Melbourne has to offer.

We’ve come to see the NGV’s The House of Dior: Seventy Years of Haute Couture. Melbourne, alongside New York and Paris, is one of three cities chosen to host the exhibition. We’re staying for the very first NGV Gala, launched in celebration of The House of Dior’s opening. Think live performances, canapés from acclaimed chef James Henry, ‘experiential zones’ and a nighttime view of the exhibition, tracking the iconic house’s history from Christian Dior’s legacy years to Maria Grazia Chiuri’s modern-day.
While in Melbourne, we wouldn’t miss the launch of Gucci’s Le Marché des Merveilles at the Collins Street store.

The Westin Hotel, within walking distance of the NGV, provides a perfect vantage point to the best that Melbourne has to offer. With elegant rooms to meet your needs, the Regent Suite features as a home away from home, the Deluxe Spa Studio offers deep-set spa baths, while the Westin Workout Room comes appointed with a treadmill or stationary bike, fitness DVDs and resistance bands.

It just so happens that Maria Grazia Chiuri’s dark palette for Christian Dior AW 17, black leather beret inclusive, is perfectly suited to the Melbourne climate. As for beauty, we’re packing products to make eyes the focus: Dior’s essential Diorshow mascara, and navy shadow for a change.

We’ve been dreaming of Supernormal and Chin Chin restaurateur’s latest venture Kisumé since the multi-level dining experience opened in May. We’ll also be dining at Fitzroy institution Cutler & Co., where chef Andrew McConnell is hosting a lunch in honour of the House of Dior opening.
