The New Years celebrations may have come and gone, but we're clutching on by the skin of our teeth. How are we celebrating? Some healthy retail therapy of course. Jokes aside, the RUSSH team are sharing the pieces we are adding to our carts this month. Will they stay there or will we check out? If you're like us, responsible spending is something to have in mind now more than ever.
From jewellery and swimwear to 2025 planning and essential reads – see below what's on our shopping lists (and wishlists) in January 2025.

It’s hard to believe we’re here, but reality is biting. Seeing as it's January, rather than trotting out a new year, new me mantra (which is completely unrealistic), I’m going for new year, slightly better me (if possible.) Having had a wonderful stay-cation reading Jeanette Winterson in the mornings and swimming in the afternoons, it’s time to get a little more focused. I’m at my best when well rested so it’s time for a Cultiver sheet upgrade, the set in sand, just looks so inviting and like you could have cinnamon dreams within. I need to invest in my annual Moleskin planner, hardback of course, and in a dreamworld, a Montblanc pen to hastily make plans with. Our studio is in desperate need of some storage so this Ligne Roset sideboard could be perfect to hide all our lenses and lights. And just because life can’t entirely be about practicality, I’ve been dreaming of the perfect diamond stud, which Cushla Witing delivers in the Selene Diamond Studs.

New year, same shopping habits? Not for me. In 2025, I’ve given myself some ‘wardrobe rules’ to stick by, but that doesn’t mean I won’t be having fun while I’m at it. I’ve started using the Carted app to organise my wishlists and it has truly changed my life. Shoutout to my friend who begged me to download it over the summer break. Number one on the list is this pair of Miu Miu x New Balance sneakers which have just restocked in my size. One of the rules on my list this year is to invest in practical shoe purchases (I am infamously a stiletto girl), and these feel casual enough for everyday wear but hold enough interest that they can be worn with a suit to the office too. I have been dreaming of a big-frame sunglass ever since I spotted our editor-in-chief, Jess Blanch, in these new Bottega Veneta shields, so when I spotted these brilliant pilot aviators from Deering World, I knew I had to have them. They’re great for a day where you want your accessories to do the talking.
In other news, I need to replace my t-shirts, and my underrated favourite is this style from Country Road. I wear mine to death and they last forever. Continuing on the basics train, I’ve been hunting down a great, classic, string black bikini and finally found one from Ark Swimwear. The bestseller and Black Tie Sides are classics for a reason.

I’ve been a bit loose with the wallet over the holiday break, purchasing a few things that Santa forgot to put under my tree. First was a set of new cartilage earrings from Sarah and Sebastian; I treated myself to a styling appointment with their piercing studio and refreshed my sad looking jewellery that had been begging for a change with the cutest pieces. My fave is this little Crystalline earring because it shines like a stone but is just a simple gold piece too. To get into the summer mood, I also purchased this sheer Realisation Par dress which was great over my swimmers when I went from beach to bar. Now that I’m back on land, I need to source some more demure underwear to go with the dress, and Boody has my back with these high waisted briefs. And not that I need any new shoes, but if I were to buy a new sneaker for 2025, it would be my first pair of Golden Goose. A long time admirer of this shoe, I think this could be the year I commit? I don’t have a red pair of shoes so these could fit nicely into my rotation.

I’m not as big on sneakers as the rest of the team. So, I only really have one pair of lifestyle sneakers - a pair of 5-year old white Reeboks that I’ve worn a hole through. As such, I replaced them with a pair of New Balance 574s I bought this week.. I also bought a new pair of jeans. All the ones I have are very long and I tried to get a cropped pair on Depop. Alas, many of the brands have completely destroyed their sizing systems since I last went jeans shopping and I ended up having to repop everything. Turns out 28s are now the size of all my old 26s… a rant for another time. I ended up going with a pair of old faithful Levis from THE ICONIC. I also finally pulled the trigger on the Ganni boots I’ve been wanting. Lastly, I’m on the hunt for a chic, white (and ideally) linen dress to wear to the Australian Open. I quite like this one from Bec & Bridge.

I’m trying to save up for a trip to New York, however, one must look stylish if they’re going there. On my list at the moment are these Dries Van Noten Mary Jane pumps, especially while they are on sale. I also love sweaters, and Bode has the best ones, and jackets. I think this Jockey knit sweater is so fun. And with Festival season on its way, particularly Laneway, I’m in need of a top to go with my grey skirt and boots. I'm thinking of something from Paloma Wool, like this grey top or this one. I have also been wanting this Sarah and Sebastian signet ring since my 21st, so for 2 years now and I think it’s time to purchase–it’s just so gorgeous.

I’ve decided there are a few things on my 2025 ins list: heels (I’m eyeing off the Dries Van Noten Virgos, but waiting for the right moment to treat myself), cashmere (Comme Si is my most frequented site already this month), and collared knits (preferably also cashmere, like Reese Blutstein’s Classic Polo collab with Pure Cashmere NYC). And finally, I sadly lost one each of BOTH my Tidal Huggies and Vacation Hoops from Kirsten Ash in successive days. Both were my most-worn earrings and are in dire need of replacing, so will be making their way into my cart ASAP.

A few bits! The star of the show Cecile Bahnsen’s collab with Asics, flower appliqué hello! I love everything Dilara does and these little silky boxers look so comfy. Although I’m classically a gold girlie, I’m starting to wear silver statement pieces and I feel like mixing metals is actually chic. This Georg Jensen bangle is so nice, I love the hinge detailing and feel like I would just have this forever. Do you ever feel like you just hate all your tops? I feel like that at the moment, these two from Sandy Liang and Isa Boulder both show their designer’s personality, one is imperfect, sensual and shiny while the other is classic, feminine and has bows. I think it’s time for me to invest in the Mason Pearson brush so putting this here so I don’t forget. A few books to round things off, John Willie: A Bizarre Life, Love and Degradation by William J. Simmons, Eva Hesse: Diaries and a candle from Diptyque.

Like Elyssa, I love the Carted app! No more crazy iPhone notes and saved items on Instagram I can never find. Right now, I have my heart set on a new pair of RayBan classic black Wayfarers; my husband and I ‘share’ a pair and his head must be bigger than mine as they’ve stretched. Finally time to acquire my own. I am about to pull the trigger on this James Street Knit, I know it’s summer but I saw it on TikTok now I can’t get it out of my mind. Finally, I’m off to Thailand next week for a bit of January R&R. Fitness is on the agenda, and so some activewear is a must. I really want to buy organic fibres this year in the context of workout tights, and I love these from Nagnata. While not for ‘running’, these Onitsuka Tiger kicks will be perfect for travel, walks, and the office once I’m back on home soil. Also, because it’s January and I’m feeling aspirational, if anyone is in the market for a vintage Prada suit, buy this one from The Real Real before I do!
