We'd argue that Sofia Coppola's is one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary cinema. Now, the director is lending this voice to a new medium, with the launch of her very own imprint: Important Flowers.

Produced in partnership with Mack, a UK-based publisher, Coppola's first project will be The Virgin Suicides: a photo book of images by British fashion photographer Corinne Day, taken on the set of what was Coppola's first film. As for when it will land in our hot little hands? That's been carefully considered too, with the launch slated for next April 20205 — coinciding with the film's 25th anniversary.
It's not the first time Coppola has turned her attention to print media. In 2023, she and Mack published Archive, a 500-page tribute to her illustrious film career, comprising behind-the-scenes images and even script clippings from 1999 to today.
And Important Flowers will be keeping us fed well into 2025, with Chanel Haute Couture set for publication next September. Per Vogue, think of this project as a "high fashion scrapbook." It's a story that Coppola's long relationship with the Parisienne Fashion House makes her perfectly poised to tell. At 15, she interned at Chanel under Karl Lagerfeld. Fast forward to 2023, and she entrusted the atelier with crafting a wedding dress to be worn by Cailee Spaeny in Priscilla.
If all this talk has your appetite well and truly whet, there's something to satisfy you in the meantime. Important Flowers has released a 2025 and 2026 planner (which is now available for pre-order), and features ultra-chic touches like a resolutions log, a wish list for hotels, restaurants, movies, and books, and a printed handwritten notecard from Coppola herself.
