As the days get longer and the ocean gets warmer, time spent on golden sands is a daily ritual for us at the office. You may be wondering what essentials the RUSSH editors are turning to this season? Think of our favourite swimwear from go-to brands like FELLA and LIDO – to BAINA’s lush towels and the perfect beachside books. Something to carry it all? We're taking bags from Seafolly and Wynn Hamlyn. And, of course, sunscreen remains the season’s most vital companion.
The RUSSH editors have rounded up everything you need for a sun-soaked season done right. Without further ado, we'll see you out there.

Beach essentials for me are pretty minimal. But I am in need of a new swimsuit and have been eyeing off this LIDO Uno one piece as a simple suit to add to my mix. I’m also a freak who only owns like, one towel, and it’s in desperate need of replacing – preferably with the BAINA Franklin Bath Towel in Fuyu & Chalk. And lastly, no beach trip is complete without a beach read – and after polishing off Didion & Babitz, it’s only fitting that my next two reads are Eve’s Hollywood and Play It As It Lays.

Sunscreen is always a must. For body, I love Aesop and Mecca Cosmetica To Save Body Sun Mousse. I have fancy face sunscreen formulas that I wear under makeup everyday, but for the beach I prefer something I can reapply non-stop, like La Roche-Posay’s Anthelios.
As for swimwear, I always repurchase Fella and Eres. I recently bought a simple black bikini from Fella (I love the Arnie Top and Marcus Bottoms — the ribbed material stands up against sand and concrete, too). On Eres, I’m coveting the Paradise Bossa Nova Strapless one piece in white. The beach for me often means boating, which means windy conditions and thus, an easy throw over. The Maggie Marylin Homesick WindBreaker is high on my want list.

An essential for me this summer will be easy and delicious cooking, so Nigella Summer: Easy Cooking, Easy Eating is a must, especially if I'm taking snacks to the beach. As we all know, SPF is so important (across all seasons) and I’m about to hit empty so I need to restock my La Roche-Posay Anthelios Invisible Fluid Spray SPF 50+. Continuing with sun-safety, I'm looking for a cute hat and the Paloma Sun Hat is so whimsical – I think I need it right now.
I’ve been obsessing over the no-longer-new Slim Square Havaianas so it may be time to pull that trigger.
The last thing on my summer essentials list is an overshirt for swimmers. I already have the Freja Shirt Cream Pinstripe from FAITHFULL and love it, but a pop of colour is needed and the Wine Pinstripe is calling my name.

I have a few beach essentials so a big bag is key. I scored a vintage Miu Miu basket bag on eBay earlier this year that has become my go-to but I also love the medium Palorosa totes and Wynn Hamlyn’s new beaded bag. I always take a good book to the beach. Currently, it’s Stanley Tucci’s What I Ate in One Year, once I get through this I have Hidden Faces by Dalí and Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf waiting in the wings.
I like to pack a comb and something gentle on the skin. For a little post-swim refresh I turn to Sans [ceuticals] or Maryse. Of course, a great towel is always needed too. I have completely thrashed Baina’s Woodford Pool Towel over the last few summers and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

We wear retinol in this house so Tretinoin girlies rise up. My summer essentials include mainly items which don’t compromise all the hard work I’ve been doing skin-wise all year. The Mesoestetic Light Water Veil 50+ is an essential everyday chemical sunscreen. Samantha Jones Alaïa hat of my dreams! I’ve been hunting for some ski goggle-esque aviators for maximum sun block-out and this special little Elsa starfish pendant is so summery and cute + love this girly Frankies bikini.

I live by the beach, so I like to think I’ve got my beach bag down to an art. Starting with the bag itself, I was recently gifted this one by Seafolly and I’m fairly obsessed – it’s so spacious, and has an internal zip, which is nice for keeping valuables sand-free. I’m pretty picky when it comes to bikinis, and so-far, this brown pair by Faithfull is my reigning favourite. My skin is also pretty picky, but likes this sunscreen by Ultra Violette – it’s probably my most frequently repurchased skincare item. And I always need a hat and oversized shirt in my arsenal. I’m yet to find a cap cuter than this one by Emma Mulholland on Holiday, and I’m eyeing off this striped shirt (and perhaps the matching shorts) by Maggie Marilyn.
