In a seamless blend of innovation and artistry, the iconic Swiss watchmaker unveiled its latest collaboration during an exclusive event at the Musée Atelier Audemars Piguet in Le Brassus, Switzerland. At the core of this collaboration is the Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon “COMPANION.” Limited to just 250 pieces, the 43 mm watch is a tribute to KAWS’ subversive and playful aesthetic. Beneath the sapphire crystal, COMPANION peers out inquisitively, its hands and face pressed against the glass as though curious about what lies beyond. This design choice, a nod to KAWS’ early “ad intervention” days, transforms the concept of timekeeping into a thought-provoking narrative. An innovative peripheral time display further reinforces the avant-garde spirit of the Royal Oak Concept collection, proving that Audemars Piguet is not afraid to reimagine tradition.
But thee collaboration doesn’t stop at the wrist. As part of KAWS’ ongoing KAWS series, an 11-metre-tall COMPANION sculpture now sits atop Audemars Piguet’s headquarters in Le Brassus. Co-created with AllRightsReserved, the monumental figure is as much a spectacle as it is a statement. Overlooking the Vallée de Joux, it encourages visitors to reflect on the ties between horology and the natural world – a dialogue between heritage and contemporary vision. The installation will remain in place until December 20, 2024, inviting awe and introspection in equal measure.
