Josh O’Connor has landed a role in Steven Spielberg’s next project

Josh O'Connor

Josh O'Connor is cementing his movie star status, with a role in Steven Spielberg's hotly-anticipated next project. The British actor has had a busy few years, beginning with his role as King Charles in The Crown, before leaping into Lee and, most famously (to us, anyway), Luca Guadagnino's Challengers. Most recently, he's been hard at work filming The Mastermind, and Wake Up Dead Man, the third instalment to the Knives Out universe. Now, he'll be immersed in Spielberg's creation — with a few other A-listers as his cast mates. All the important details, below.

What do we know about the project?

So far, not much. The still-unnamed film is being directed by Spielberg, and the script comes courtesy of David Koepp, whose previously worked on blockbusters like Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Of course, for his part, Spielberg is largely considered the most commercially successful filmmaker of his time — in other words, expect something of epic proportions from this duo.

Who else is cast in the film?

A film of this scale needs an excellent cast to go along with it, and that's exactly what it's got. Joining O'Connor in the film are Emily Blunt, Colin Firth, Colman Domingo and The Perfect Couple star Eve Hewson. Notably, each of these actors hail from England and Ireland, so we'd hazard that the film might also be set somewhere across the pond.

When does it come out?

Filming is not yet underway, but the film already has a release date. It's expected to hit cinemas on May 15, 2026. We'll keep you updated as we know more.
