Robert Pattinson is the latest A-lister to sign on to Christopher Nolan's next project. We first heard that power couple Zendaya and Tom Holland were set to share the screen again, but now, it looks like Zendaya has brought her The Drama co-star into the fold. A power trio, if you will. Below, everything we know about the upcoming project, including the stacked cast list.
Who else is Christopher Nolan’s new movie?
The first actors to be cast in the so-far unnamed project were Tom Holland and Matt Damon. Appearing on Good Morning America in October, Holland said of the news, "I’m incredibly excited. And, obviously, honoured, but that’s all I can say because, to be honest, that’s all I know.” As for Damon, it's his third time collaborating with the director, having also starred in Interstellar and, more recently, Oppenheimer.
Since then, three powerful women have been slated to join the project: Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, and Anne Hathaway. Zendaya and Hathaway have previously shared the screen for a Bulgari campaign, but have yet to work together on a significant project of this kind. Hathaway, however, has experience working with Nolan, who famously cast her in Interstellar, shortly after she faced significant backlash for Les Miserables.
“I had an angel in Christopher Nolan, who did not care about that and gave me one of the most beautiful roles I’ve had in one of the best films that I’ve been a part of… And my career did not lose momentum the way it could have if he hadn’t backed me,” the actress said at the time.
And the latest actor to join the ensemble is Robert Pattinson, who has previously worked with Nolan on Tenet. The actor has been booked and busy recently, with a sequel to The Batman in the works, plus a starring role in A24's Primetime, and The Drama.
What is Christopher Nolan's new film about?
As for exactly what the film will be about, the details are still tightly under wraps. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film could take a few cues from Nolan's Oppenheimer (which is the highest-grossing biopic to date, and won seven Academy Awards), with the outlet reporting it won't be set in the present day.
When does Christopher Nolan's next movie come out?
At this stage, the film is slated for release on July 17, 2026.
