The ‘RUSSH’ team dishes up the 16 best pizza spots in Sydney

The 'RUSSH' team dishes on the 15 best pizza spots in Sydney

Sydney’s pizza scene has evolved over the years to become a pretty serious business. Of course, there are thousands of pizzerias to choose from in the greater Sydney area, but not all slices are created equal. At least, not in our opinion.

Of course, you can argue the merits of a late-night Dominoes and cheesy garlic bread, or whether deep dish or crispy crust rules supreme. And for the lactose-avoidant, pizza can be a touchy subject altogether. But luckily, at RUSSH, we've got all bases – and suburbs – covered.

Whether you're after a fragrant wood-fired classic, or hunting for an authentic Margherita, here’s where to go for the best pizza in Sydney.

1. Pizza Oltra (Haymarket)

Their space is minimalist, yet vibrant, and their menu focusses focus on flavour, texture, and top-notch ingredients.

Our Studio Manager Liv's pick is Donny's, of which she says it's "just really simple, good pizza". It's not unusual for the vegan option to feel a little lackluster, but you know it's a good sign when a vegan pizzeria like Gigi's is being flocked to by omnivores as well. With a gorgeous selection of well-though-out pizzas and sides, this is a great, casual spot for romancing your dairy-free and vegetarian friends (with plenty of gluten-free options too). We'd highly recommend the "Cavolo" with cauliflower puree, artichokes, pine nuts, capers, currants, garlic and parsley.

5. Dimitri's Pizzeria (Darlinghurst)

A personal favourite of mine is Dimitri's, which sits across three storeys on Oxford street near Taylor's Square. On a gorgeous summer evening, opt for the rooftop for a crisp setting under the stars. The Bee Sting (sopressa and hot honey) is a must. The focaccia is also killer if you're looking to double-up on carbs for the night too. I'd suggest booking ahead for this one (or opting for takeaway if you're in a pinch).

6.  Pizza Riccardo (Narrabeen)
