Artist Benedict dos Remedios is set to unveil a new chapter in his creative journey with an upcoming art show "Friends with Benefits" at Saturdays NYC on Crosby Street in Soho, New York City. This event marks a special collaboration between the artist and the brand, celebrating not only his work but also the launch of a capsule collection of six apparel styles. In addition to the Soho location, this collection will also be available at Saturdays NYC in Bondi Beach, Sydney.
"We’ve known Benedict nearly as long as our brand has been established," says Colin Tunstall of Saturdays NYC. "When we first opened, it seemed Australians in the city were naturally drawn to us. We’ve watched Benedict evolve into new artistic realms, and it felt only right to invite him to create pieces that connect us to our roots."
Dos Remedios is no stranger to acclaim. His work, which explores themes of nature, deception, and beauty in the context of our digitised world, was recently showcased as a finalist in the prestigious Sir John Sulman Prize at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. His bold, graphic, and sculptural forms – often inspired by natural elements – have captivated collectors across Sydney, London, New York, and Barcelona.
His latest paintings, which will be on display at Saturdays NYC, play with colour, movement, and pattern. Bright airbrushed hues fade seamlessly into acrylic and gouache strokes, blending realism and abstraction in a way that’s uniquely his. This latest collection is a testament to his ability to push the boundaries of form, creating visually striking works that feel both modern and timeless.
