‘Emily in Paris’ is renewed for a fifth season and here are the five predictions we have for it

Mangez bien, riez souvent, aimez beaucoup. Eat well, laugh often, love a lot. The French saying might have some extra grit when you consider that Emily in Paris is a complete endorsement of the cause. And because we're lapping it out of her palm, the francophile-fashion series is coming in hot for a fifth instalment.

The season winds up with a dramatic cliffhanger, with the fate of Emily's romantic life in Paris in mid-air. With sights firmly cast on Rome, love, career and pivots elsewhere have all turned the momentum away from the City of Love. What will Season 5 bring? Will our Emily stay firmly trained in Paris? Will her fashion continue to reach fever-pitch, or simmer down to a more neutralised palette? And finally, is she trading her Brigitte Bardot for a tinge of Monica Belluci? We've done the work for you and come up with a deck of our predictions. Below, find five what-ifs we think are bound to happen in season 5 of Emily in Paris.

Visa Expiry... or a Parisian adieu

As all good things do come to an end, we're jonesing for the sudden, abrupt halt to Emily in Paris. The location, not the show. It's a very likely turn of events that Emily will run into some visa trouble after trotting globeside on European shores for... pretty much the entire duration of the shows. A move to a different city could be the shake-up our girl needs, after cresting unemployment, multiple beaus, and  very hackneyed French. We don't blame her. Let's see how this turns out.

 Change of location...

In line with the previous prediction, it's fairly safe to bet that if any visa woes go belly-up, our Parisian belle might have to relocate to another city. And as teased in previous seasons, there's always tensions rife with moving back to more familiar shores for our Emily. Season 2 closed up with a dramatic cliffhanger, with the fate of Emily's life in Paris in question. Work at Savoir or work under Sylvie? She might have taken the French pill last time, but we don't know if that will hold especially after her starry time on bicoastal Italian shores. Only time will tell...

Queer romances bloom...

Hear me out. Before the pitchforks sharpen, ask yourself, why would this be the juggernaut that topples the order of an already chaotic and well-loved show? It's about damn time. There's bicurious Camille, an openly out Julien, and perhaps even our Chicagoan protagonist, who could float to the top for this occasion? I'm not saying that Gabriel and Marcello aren't worthy contenders, but there have been... moments. Cue that sapphic embrace from Season 1. We're hoping to see more.

A new cast member... potentially from birth

Though we poked holes through Camille's expectant status this season, we're wondering if it's time for a new addition to the Emily in Paris family. Literally. Could it be finally the hour for an infancy to take stage? No takers as to who the mother-in-question might be, but we'd love to see maternity fashion have its own crowning moment. And what a quelle surprise it will be.

Fashion finds a new angle...

This season was spearheaded once again by Patricia Field's successor, Marylin Fitoussi. Fitoussi expressed expanding on her style repertoire, stating, season 4 would be a great time to revisit some of Emily's famous looks with a new spin. In the quartet offering of the show, the focus strayed from its usual riot of colour to highlight some of the cinematic muses of Europe's past: taking inspiration from Hepburn, Belluci, and Bardot. This Nina Ricci striped affair is the perfect meld of old and avant-garde new.
