Your first look at Raes on Wategos and Tamsin Johnson's new Byron Bay guest houses

There are a few icons of the Northern Rivers; destinations that earmark any trip taken to the region. The Cape Byron Lighthouse, situated atop its gentle knoll of grass. Wategos Beach, a pristine stretch of sand away from the bustle of Byron. And Raes – the boutique hotel and restaurant that lives on the water's edge.

Excitingly, Raes on Wategos is expanding this week. Located just a minute's walk from the original Raes site, the new property, formerly Victoria's at Wategos, will offer 10 luxurious new suites, enhancing the brand's hospitality during its 30th anniversary year.

Designed by Tamsin Johnson, editor of RUSSH Home, the new property mirrors the minimalistic, coastal look of the original Raes, incorporating Mediterranean influences and an understated coastal elegance.

When will it open?

The guest houses will be opening on Thursday 7 November in line with Raes 30th birthday.

What are the amenities at the new property?

The new property maintains Raes' commitment to exceptional service and luxury. It features ten spacious suites, indoor common areas with open log fireplaces, tropical gardens, and two impressive lap pools. Guests can enjoy a 16 x 3-meter pool with a waterfall, and a 12-meter solar-heated pool with a cabana, making it perfect for year-round vacations.

Positioned less than 100 meters from the original Raes, guests will have access to Raes' extensive facilities, including the two-hatted Raes Dining Room, the alfresco Cellar Bar, and the indulgent Raes Spa. Guests will also benefit from premium services, including an in-house chauffeur and complimentary transfers.
