Alessandro Michele is never one to conform, but this week he has certainly defied expectations once again – wasting no time to do so at his new Home in the Roman House of Valentino. He may have only published his first book last week, but Michele is already on to the next – dropping some much larger and more exciting fashion news today.
The lauded fashion designer has unexpectedly decided to share his first designs for Valentino months before the collection's scheduled debut in September at Paris Fashion Week.
The Valentino Spring 2025 look book covers an expansive collection of more than 170 looks – and we're reeling from this first look at his tenure.
Why did he drop the collection look book early?
Despite confirming his debut fashion show for Valentino would still be in Paris on 29 September, Michele said in an interview this week that he "instinctively decided" that his menswear and womenswear Resort 2025 collection needed to be seen before hitting stores in October later this year.
"It all happened very naturally and I felt it was only fair to pay tribute to their work; it was against nature to keep the collection under wraps," Michele said.
Your first look at the collection
Today, the House dropped the full collection look book of 171 images – including an additional look book dedicated to the accessories.
The collection feels inherently very 'Michele' – with plenty of his signature silhouettes and layering present. Head scarves, oversized sunglasses, houndstooth and fur-trimmed jackets mix 60s and 70s sensibilities in a nod to the archives of Valentino. Lace dresses pair with layered pearls, while clashing florals come through in the form of frilled dresses and regal capes.
Accessories wise, heels aren't without lace socks, embellished with bows or buckled like Mary Janes. Bags in a plethora of the House's signature silhouettes are wrapped in snakeskin, florals or fringed with suede.
