Breeana Smith of L’IDEE WOMAN sends postcards from the heart of Positano

‘In light of a new era, both a man, and start of a new family led me to starting a new chapter in the South of Italy, Positano. Five years in, and I’ve never looked back.’

Co-founder of L'IDEE WOMAN Breeana Smith knows a couple of things about Positano. And by a couple, we mean about half a decade's worth.

L’IDÉE WOMAN is the perennial go-to for a perfect, summer dress that billows in the wind. The label works closely with one of the oldest pleating factories in the world to produce the pleat forms which have become signature touchpoints of the L’IDÉE WOMAN design. Operating out of Southern Italy for that still-to-come period has not been in vain. Smith's move to Positano has engendered her own creative ebb and flow.

After all, there's inspiration abounding. In all its effusive summer bloom, Positano is one of the most famous enclaves in the European stretch for a reason. For the eyes, you can find a coastline studded with villas, ruins, and a Benedictine abbey. The beaches are slate and pebble, and the waters fringing it are cobalt-blue. From seafood pasta to waterside drinks to the local snorkelling haunts, there's a wealth of options everywhere you look.

According to Smith, this is how to make the most out of one of the most famous cliff-side clusters on the Amalfi Coast.

If you’re headed to Nerano, make sure to try the classic Spaghetti Alla Nerano. This dish, with its zesty zucchini and cheese combo, has been the talk of the town since 1950. You’ll find it all over the South. Ask for it at any restaurant, along with some fresh seafood, and you’re in for a treat.

Conca Del Sogno offers a spectacular beach club experience in a breathtaking location. With its private vibe, and incredible food, you’re guaranteed to have a great time. Il Cantuccio is a must-visit for its fun atmosphere and delicious traditional food. For a fine dining experience, head to Quatro Passi.

If you’re after a slower, quintessentially southern Italian experience with a quick access to all the hotspots, then Nerano is the place for you. While Nerano may not be the go-to for convenience and shopping as it’s slightly more remote; if you’re into easy access to shops and amenities, consider staying in Positano, Sorrento, or Capri and making a day trip here by car or boat.

It’s like stepping into a charming childhood memory, with local stores selling snorkels and ice cream, and not much else. It’s the kind of place that leaves a lasting impression, even feeling nostalgic in the moment. Veni, vidi, vici.
