The best of street style hitting the ground at AFW 2024

Since its inception, fashion weeks across the globe have always been the watering hole to uncover the style ingenues and what they're traipsing about in. While the collections might lead us in one direction, it's the word on the street that tells its own story entirely. It's no surprise then, that this  Australian Fashion Week, we're keeping a close eye on the ground and the creatives, editors and street style veterans flooding the streets of Carriageworks every day. And already on day one, the street style at AFW 2024 has been top tier.

The morning opened with Albus Lumen, who set the tone for the week, and has given us some street style inspiration for the week to come. Layering sheer gowns with distressed denim, plenty of pearls and of course the unforgettable shoe coverings as footwear (can't wait to see how to street style set interpret this look). Onto Next Gen – a show that encourages us to lean into our creative side – before we headed onto Viktoria & Woods' debut show, where pristine tailoring and cool-girl silhouettes were brought together under a tonal haven. So, now that we've recapped what we saw on the runway, what about off it?

Below, see our roundup of some of our favourite street style looks from AFW 2024 day one. Do you have a favourite street style star?
