The universe might be a total mess right now but at least it got one thing right. Rachel Sennott, comedy queen and the hottest 28-year-old we know, has landed a pilot order from HBO. Which means, yes, a Sennott-led comedy series is officially on the way. Here are all the details so far.
Who's in the cast?
As of today, we have our first taste of the cast for the show. Odessa A’zion, Jordan Firstman, Miles Robbins, and True Whitaker are all confirmed to be a part of the project alongside Sennott.
Sennott of course will also be writing and executive producing the series, which leaves room for a director to come aboard. Given their past collaborations, we wouldn't be surprised if that role was filled in by Emma Seligman, the director behind Shiva Baby – the film which gave Sennott her big break – and Bottoms. Sennott and Seligman both graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts in 2017.
As for the rest of the project's twenty-somethings? We only hope that Ayo Edebiri, Molly Gordon, Hunter Schafer or Amandla Stenberg will be considered.
What is Rachel Sennott's HBO series about?
The untitled project has been billed as this generation's answer to Lena Dunham's Girls or Issa Rae's Insecure. I don't know about you, but this is exactly the kind of viewing I'm here (on this earth) for.
According to Deadline, the half-hour pilot episode will set up to explore "a codependent friend group" as they reunite and navigate how "the time apart, ambition, and new relationships have changed them".
Next we'd like to know if it will be set in New York City and, more importantly, who is involved? We have our hunches. Find them below.
Is there a release date?
Considering the pilot has just been announced, it's not yet clear when we'll get our first glimpse. But expect to see less of Sennott, probably, who will have her head down in preparation for the series.

What else has Rachel Sennott worked on?
Those who haven't seen Shiva Baby or Bottoms may know Sennott from her role in A24 horror comedy Bodies Bodies Bodies or for her entertaining role as Leia in Abel Tesfaye and Sam Levinson's HBO series The Idol. What's clear to all of us watching is that the Irish-Italian-American actress immediately adds value to every project she's involved with.
The actress assisted Seligman in writing the screenplay for Bottoms and had a career in New York City's comedy circuit before she tried her hand at acting. We are chomping at the bit to see where this new opportunity leads.
