If Sydney's Ace Hotel wasn't already cool enough, they'll soon be playing host to a quarterly Artist in Residence (AIR), who will be staying, creating and exhibiting new works on site.
Ace Hotel Sydney's AIR programming will be curated by Nina Fitzgerald (creative director of Going North and Laundry Gallery) on behalf of Rethinkable, a certified B Corp social innovation collective the works across the intersection of community and environmental impact.
The AIR program curation aims to elevate a series of First Nations voices in an attempt to further empower creative new perspectives.
Sydney is just one of eight global Ace locations to play host to a visionary creative, alongside other flagship locales like Ace Hotel New York, Ace Hotel Kyoto and Ace Hotel Palm Springs.
Who is in residence at Ace Hotel in July?
Ace Hotel Sydney's first artist-in-residence will be Wiradjuri poet and multidisciplinary artist Jazz Money, whose works encompass installation, digital, performance, film and print. Money's residency at the space will span July–September 2023.
Money's award-winning, internationally published writing and work across other mediums centres on questions of narrative, legacy, First Nations and colonial memory and the construction of a national and personal identity.

Who else will be in residence?
Melbourne-based painter Mia Boe (our recent RUSSH Home Issue 02 cover artist) will be taking centre stage from October through till the end of the year, followed by Solomon Booth, a printmaker from the Kaurarag tribe of Horn Island in the Torres Strait. Booth's residence will take us from January until March 2024.
After Booth's residency wraps up in March, we'll be graced with the work of artist and activist Maddison Gibbs, a proud Barkndji woman from Dubbo, NSW. Gibbs' art practice examines intergenerational and contemporary stories of First Nations societies and spirits across a wide spectrum of mediums – with a focus on exploring women's narratives.
Gibbs' residency will span from April-June 2024.
