After the most recent film award season, it seems that A24 have not only catapulted to the top of the movie production game, but secured a spot there for themselves into the indefinite future. News of their upcoming film productions, like Australian horror film Talk to Me, or their pop star flick starring Michaela Coel and Anna Hathaway, Mother Mary, have been the talk of the town, and we're excited to bring you news of another tasty morsel from the A24 cinematic universe, titled, Y2K.
Y2k is a disaster comedy set to star a host of up-and-coming new faces, like Knives Out's Jaeden Martell, West Side Story's Rachel Zegler and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina's Lachlan Watson, alongside Deadpool 2's Julian Dennison and Scream VI's Mason Gooding. We'll even see Australia's latest booming rap export, The Kid Laroi (real name Charlton Howard) step up to the big screen for the first time.
Behind the scenes, there's also a host of big names tied to the project, with Saturday Night Live alumni Kyle Mooney confirming he'll be making his directorial debut, and Jonah Hill's Strong Baby company attached to produce.
What is the film about?
Set on New Year's Eve of 1999, two high school best friends (Martell and Dennison) decide to live it up on the last night before the new millennium by gatecrashing the last big party. But when the clock strikes midnight, things start to get out of hand, and their night becomes more surreal and insane than they ever could have imagined.
When will it be released?
The film is still in very early stages of production, so we don't have any information as of yet regarding its release. However, be sure to check back and we'll update this space as the details are dropped.
