Queen of self-love Lizzo is set to headline Splendour in the Grass 2023

Lizzo headlining Splendour In The Grass 2023

If you're in dire need of a self-acceptance pep talk, then US songstress, rapper and flautist Lizzo has got you covered this July. The Grammy award winner will be touching down on the sandy shores of Byron Bay in winter to headline this year's Splendour in the Grass festival - so now's a good time to start figuring out where your gum boots are.

Breaking from tradition for its 21st birthday, the Splendour in the Grass team decided they just couldn't wait to share Lizzo's headlining performance announcement with the rest of the lineup next month. The headlining announcement also comes fresh off the back of the singer's single, About Damn Time taking out Record Of The Year at this year's Grammy award ceremony in February.

Lizzo is slated to join over 100 international and local acts on this year's lineup, which is expected to drop in a couple of weeks' time. The festival organisers, who've had a rocky couple of years contending with pandemic restrictions and most recently, a bout of bad weather, seem all but determined to ensure that the show will go on this year.

Lizzo's headlining billing will be the singer's first time performing in Australia in almost three years (since early 2020), and boy has she had a jam-packed couple of years since. The singer recently pulled out all the stops during a slew of performances at the MTV Video Music Awards, American Music Awards and most recently, as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live.

If this announcement is anything to go by, we'll be waiting with bated breath for the rest of the lineup in a couple of weeks time. Watch this space.

Splendour in the Grass 2023 will be held at North Byron Parklands from Friday 21 July until Sunday 23 July 2023. First release tickets will be available to purchase via the festival's website from 9am AEDT on Thursday 23 March.
