Given the history Heaven by Marc Jacobs and Kiko Kostadinov have with high profile collaborations and the similar world both labels occupy, it was only a matter of time before the two entities joined forces. That day, my friends, has finally arrived.
After more than two years in the making, the worlds of Heaven by Marc Jacobs and Kiko Kostadinov have collided in a limited capsule. Fronted by talent like musician Beabadoobee and Gabbriette, the campaign marries the high impact colour palettes and curious cuts associated with Kiko Kostadinov with the youth culture and nostalgic feel that's become the bread and butter of Marc Jacobs' spin-off line. It's lo-fi and perfectly primed for the people of the internet.
Available to shop as we speak, the drop comprises of more involved pieces than we're used to seeing from Heaven, which explains the slight uptick in pricing. Riffing off of Kiko Kostadinov's signature star pants, the motif is referenced throughout the capsule and is reimagined in the grungy plaids from the Marc Jacobs archives. There's a wool argyle mini dress, a shirred mini skirt with contrast plaid paneling and a jacket and trousers to match. Elsewhere you'll find graphic hoodies, a reimagination of the Heaven shoulder bag with two pockets, baby tees and macrame accessories fitted out with the candy-style double-headed teddy charm.
Ava Nirui, a designer at Marc Jacobs and the architect behind Heaven told i-D, "Working on this project just felt so intuitive β it felt very easy to interpret Heaven through a Kiko lens, and I feel like the result is a real amalgamation of both worlds. You can see the Kiko influence, the Heaven influence, and the old Marc Jacobs influence," she says. "It feels slightly nostalgic, but still very modern, and even futuristic in a way."
Off the back of a sold out collaboration between Kiko Kostadinov and Japanese label Hysteric Glamour, and where Marc Jacobs Heaven is concerned, with Wong Kar-wai, this is exactly the kind of blue sky thinking we're yearning for.
