After far too many years away from the big screen opening beach clubs in Mykonos and moving to Dubai, Lindsay Lohan is returning to acting. Which is a win for people like myself, who once watched Mean Girls nine times straight. Lohan has signed a two-movie deal with Netflix, and the first film is heading our way just in time for the holidays.
So, what film is responsible for Lohan's comeback? A Christmas movie, obviously. It's called Falling For Christmas and will follow Lohan as she plays a spoiled heiress, Sierra, who is stranded at Christmastime due to a skiing accident. Holed up in a lodge, the heiress is cared for by its hapless widower owner and his young daughter. If you've spent hours in the festive corner of Netflix, you'll know how these things go.
For Falling For Christmas, Lindsay Lohan is joined by Glee actor Chord Overstreet, Olivia Perez, Blythe Howard, Chase Ramsey and Jack Wagner.
If you're a fan of Lohan but not big on Christmas movies, the good news is that the second film in the actor's partnership with Netflix will be a supernatural Irish romcom entitled Irish Wish. Although, at this stage it looks like Falling For Christmas will arrive first, with a premiere date set for November 10.
Personally, I'm not picky. Rather, I'm just grateful that Lohan is inching back into showbiz. As she told The Hollywood Reporter, getting back into the acting game is just like “riding a bicycle". “It’s just in me,” she explained. “It’s a part of me."
As for what's next beyond Falling For Christmas and Irish Wish, Lindsay Lohan said, “I am having a wonderful time working with Netflix and am discussing next steps! I would love to dive deeper and play a character who’s on a journey [of] self-discovery.”
Britney is free. Paris is walking for Versace and now this? Nature is well and truly healing.
