New York Fashion Week's Spring Summer 2023 season is right around the corner, starting up again on September 9, and the schedule is packed with a slew of iconic house names and "It" brands of the moment. Spring Summer is always a fun season, and we're looking forward to collection debuts from the likes of Eckhaus Latta, Maryam Nassir Zadeh, Proenza Schouler, Dion Lee, and more. But one name that stands out in particular, is Tommy Hilfiger, the iconic New York brand that is set to return after a 3-year hiatus on the schedule with a runway show and interactive experience in-person and online.
The anticipated show will take place on Sunday, September 11 at 7PM EDT in Greenpoint Brooklyn, and is the first time the designer is holding a runway show since his last in London at the beginning of 2020.
“My heart immediately went to New York’s iconic creative culture when I thought about where to launch our return to fashion week. This is where fashion, art, music, and entertainment was all coming together when I first started out in the industry,” said Hilfiger in an official statement. “And today, it is still this approach that inspires me to engage with the cutting-edge communities building new creative experiences. This season is all about the collision of my favourite archival inspirations with new live event concepts and virtual worlds. It’s the perfect expression of what we stand for as we pay homage to our roots with a return to NYFW.”
The show will also be part of the brands "see now buy now" business model that was launched in 2016, and will show Hilfiger's Fall 22 collection instead of Spring Summer 23. The runway show will also take place digitally with a livestream on Roblox, the online gaming platform that the brand has been collaborating with since December 2021. Roblox’s 50 million daily users will be invited to witness the runway show, and have the chance to purchase exclusive items for their own digital avatars as it takes place.
As far as the other brand we'll be keeping an eye on through the week, we're looking forward to Proenza Schouler in another opening spot on September 9 at 4PM; Eckhaus Latta at 1PM and Dion Lee at 4PM on September 10; Ulla Johnson at 10AM and Sandy Liang at 12PM on September 11; Maryam Nassir Zadeh at 12PM, Area at 4PM, and PRISCAvera at 6PM on September 12; Maisie Wilen at 3PM and Peter Do at 4PM on September 13.
The full schedule is posted on the official NYFW site, for information on all other shows.
