Sydney knows good food. From fine-dining favourites to the best in bakeries, there's a wealth of delicious eating to be found if you know where to look. One of those places is 25 Martin Place in the heart of Sydney's energetic CBD. Completed just recently, the team behind the multi-level dining precinct has cut the figurative ribbon, officially welcoming guests with open arms.
Flanked by the Theatre Royal and Harry Seidler's iconic skyscraper, 25 Martin Place is home to multiple restaurants and bars of which draw inspiration from myriad culinary destinations. Start at Cabana Bar for a negroni. It's a sprawling alfresco venue heavy on the good times and encouraging of the after work drink.
Then there's Kazan, a sleek Japanese restaurant nestled above the circular Theatre Royal. It's location and design blends seamlessly into the philosophy of food and how it's presented, emulating the traditional Japanese 'Noh Stage', where performer and audience become one through the absence of a stage curtain.
Step into White + Wong's, where Asian fusion is given a fresh face or head next door to Botswana Butchery, the New Zealand hospitality veterans are meat obsessed, serving up fine cuts in a loose and relaxed environment. The spotlight is on food from the Middle East downstairs at Aalia, brought to you by the team behind Nour and Henrietta. Drawing on lesser known techniques and dishes from North Africa and surrounding regions is the Aalia Modus Operandi. Meanwhile at L’uva, they're doing as the Romans do, offering up timeless Italian classics like handmade fusilli and Sardinian fregola.
To wash it all down, squeeze into Sardine Bar and watch the night quickly fade to light...You've earned it.
