Ultimate dreamboy Paul Mescal is set to feature in The End of Getting Lost, a new Amazon Studios thriller directed by Deniz Gamze Ergüven. Margaret Qualley will both star and executive produce the film alongside Dakota Johnson, who is also producing.
What is The End of Getting Lost about?
The film is a cinematic adaptation of Robin Kirman’s novel of the same title, with Simon and Schuester will be publishing on February 15. A dark, undulating love story set against the backdrop of 1990s Europe, the film follows young couple Gina (Qualley) and Duncan (Mescal) on what Duncan is claiming to be their honeymoon. Yet, after Gina suffers a mysterious accident, the audience is taken on a journey analysing past and present, husband and wife, to unpack the power of love and how it can lead to danger.
As the film continues, the couple border hop through Europe, with their former lives threatening to catch up to them at any moment. As the lines between fact and fiction grow blurred, the audience learns how love can lead us on unexpected journeys and how you can lose yourself to love. Kirman is adapting the screenplay for The End of Getting Lost, alongside Johnson and Ro Donnelley producing for TeaTime Pictures.
Of course, we all know Mescal from his breakout role in Normal People, based off of Sally Rooney’s Booker Prize-winning novel. The Irishman has most recently appeared on-screen in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Netflix drama The Lost Daughter, also starring Johnson. Qualley has recently been nominated for Golden Globe and Screen Actor’s Guild awards for her performance in another Netflix series, Maid.
Director Ergüven is best known for her 2015 film Mustang, her cinematic debut which premiered at Cannes and was nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film award at the Oscars. She went on to direct Kings, with Daniel Craig, and has directed episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale.
