Barack Obama has finally given us an excuse to let our brain out of lockdown with his favourite books of 2021

Barack Obama favourite books 2021

If there was ever a way to impress your friends over your next dinner, you’d find no better place than that of the bookshelves of a former president. Barack Obama has come back once again with his newly minted selection of his favourite books of 2021, and quite frankly after three months of bedridden Netflix our IQ needed the boost.

In a year riddled with post Trump and Covid PTSD, Barack expressed rather poetically the need for nourishing the soul. Something that felt especially urgent during this pandemic year as we longed for a way to connect even when we were cooped up. When breaking down the list, it’s no surprise to find some hidden gems that truly express the teetering axis of chaos we’ve been feeling on a global level.

Novels on the list include Leave the World Behind and Hail Mary both which share a similar dystopian s sentiment of two vastly different worlds that have succumbed to the pressures of a society unravelling. In a similar vain, Under The Nights Sky has a clear message of the way our world is going if we don't step in, something that Obama in no short terms continues to make known in his own little Twitterverse.

Other notables on his list include Te-Ping Chen's Land of Big Numbers, a wickedly insightful and comedic collection of stories from the former Wall St journalist that give a look into the transformation of China which seems to be consistent with a president who still continues to hold them in such high esteem. We know you still have Oprah on speed dial, Mr President.

There's still time for a read before your next family Christmas. Get the family debates rolling in! You can find the entire list below.
