Here are the nominees for the 64th Grammy Awards and what we know about it being indefinitely postponed

The arrival of the 2022 Grammy Award nominees list signals that awards season is well and truly upon us. Unfortunately for us rooting for our pal Kid Laroi, Covid has once again stepped in and ruined our plans for top musical viewing. In a move that will come as a  surprise to no one, the Recording Academy has just confirmed to Variety that the awards show will be indefinitely postponed due to the latest Omicron wave.

As suspected, the list heavily features the likes of Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, newcomer Olivia Rodrigo and Justin Bieber, leading in the top categories of Record of the Year and Album of the Year. Of course, there is one notable Australian name that's been making waves in the music industry this year, and that is The Kid LAROI, sitting comfortably in the Best New Artist category alongside Japanese Breakfast and Saweetie.

As for the award show, it seems critiques of the previous years Awards have been heard loud and clear, and so no artist has been selected solely by the Grammys Committee in the name of transparency, rather than going down the route of a highly secretive and anonymous review process as has been done in the past.

What's the current status of the award show?

The 64th annual Grammy Awards were looking to take place on Monday, January 31, 2022, on CBS. The show was scheduled to appear before an in house audience, with Trevor Noah set to host. This isn't the first time the plans have been quashed due to the pandemic. Last winter during the Delta surge, the 2021 show was postponed from January to March. In an effort to reduce the spread the venue was moved from the Crypto.com Arena to to outside the Los Angeles Convention Center. Owing to COVID safety measures. As for now, there is no confirmation if and when the ceremony will be rescheduled. With the venue set to be booked up until mid April. We'll be sure to keep you updated with any further news. In the interim you can find the list of nominees below.
