Let Le Labo transport you to Japan with its latest fragrance Thé Matcha 26

As we farewell September, we must bid adieu to Le Labo's cult City Exclusive Collection. Until next year old pal. But as we all know, when one door closes another one is blown off its hinges and out wafts the promise of a new scent. Like all our favourite fragrances from New York's most cherished parfumerie, this new one is bound to impress. It's called Thé Matcha 26 and as you've probably gathered from its name, the perfume is an ode to Japan.

Brighter than its coveted cousin Gaiac 10 - a gentle perfume made with Hokkaido in mind - this new scent is grounded by a different tree to gaïacwood, opting instead for vetiver and cedar. Both vetiver and cedar are commonly found in fragrances considered 'skin scents'. A style of perfume intended to be detected only by those in close proximity to the wearer. Le Labo have described it as "introverted and deep by nature" and a "scented reminder of home, of welcomed solitude, and of all things familiar and treasured". Unlike the scents of our youth, Thé Matcha 26 thankfully won't blast innocent passers-by. Instead it's made to be recognised by those we're most intimate with; lovers, best friends and maybe even our pets?

Of course, the hero of Thé Matcha 26 is undoubtedly matcha tea accord. Energising and invigorating, it's an ingredient we're sure you're all familiar with and is regularly paired with bitter orange, which you can count on finding in this new scent. The fragrance is rounded out with creamy and sweet-smelling fig. So for those among us who are drawn toward Diptique's Philosykos or D.S & Durga's Debaser, take this as a case for adding Thé Matcha 26 into your rotation.

Thé Matcha 26 will be available from October 1; where you can purchase this new scent from the Le Labo website and select retailers.
