Raf Simons Fall Winter 2021 has arrived, and the designer and creative director is giving cozy, colourful, youth culture energy with an oversized collection built on motifs of freedom, calm, and unity.
With a background firmly rooted in unconventional silhouettes and layering, Simons Fall Winter 2021 collection places emphasis on notions like puffy quilts, knitwear and structured denim, combining ideas of culture with couture.
Knit sweaters with elongated sleeves are stitched with vintage-style Raf Simons labels, while small skeleton hands are placed on elbows. Deep teal with red, pink with green form contrast alongside padded layering, neck scarves and cotton caps. Each block colour forms sharp-lined collars on poplin shirts, utility-style pants, and knitted gloves. “References to history are reassuring: the history of both RAF SIMONS, and of fashion, a comfort in their familiarities. Suggestions of different worlds colliding in alien gestures. There is one aesthetic language, but it creates the individual,” The brand said in a press release.
Ataraxia, equanimity, dichotomy, synchronicity, allegiance and devotion for the keywords for the collection, each representing an expansive perspective and commentary on fashion in the world today. Ataraxia defines a state of freedom from emotional disturbance and anxiety. Peace of mind, Emotional tranquility; equanimity – calmness of mind or temper, composure; dichotomy – division into two parts or classifications, esp. when they are sharply distinguished or opposed; synchronicity – an apparently meaningful coincidence in time of two or more similar or identical events that are casually unrelated; allegiance – support for and loyalty to a particular group, person or belief, and devotion– an affection, admiration or great love.
