Our man Harry Styles has been confirmed to open the 2021 Grammys and of course, we’ll now be watching

Harry Styles Grammys 2021

It goes without saying that without the melodic genius that is Harry Styles, much of this last year would have been hard to bear. His uplifting tunes, insatiable smile and excellent sartorial choices have provided hope in trying times. It only makes sense then, that our beloved Harry Styles was the obvious pick to open the 2021 Grammys.

The announcement came from Variety, who confirmed that Styles would open the awards show; accompanying a further 23 artists who will be performing on the night. It seems as though Jack Sussman, CBS’ executive VP of specials, music and live events, is as much of a Styles stan as we are; assuring audiences that the 'Golden' artist's opening number is one for the ages.

“You don’t want to miss the top of the show,” Sussman told Variety in an interview. “It’s going to be music coming at you heavy and hard like you’ve not seen it before. We’ve got Harry Styles, this incredible entertainer, at the top of the show and we’ll just keep coming at you.”

If Harry Styles wasn't enough entertainment for one night, other notable artists joining him at the 2021 Grammys include the likes of Cardi B, Taylor Swift, BTS, Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Anderson .Paak and more.

Given the current circumstances, this year's award show will be taking place at the Los Angeles Convention Center, as well as an outdoor open-air tent in the plaza of L.A. Live, rather than the Staples Centre. As shared by the Grammys' executive producer, Ben Winston, the performances will be spread across a circle of five stages, rather than just one mainstage.

“People will perform while the other three or four artists on their stages watch, applaud, and enjoy,” Winston revealed.

“As soon as that one finishes, the next one goes, the next one goes, and the next one goes. Every 45 minutes, you change out those stages, and you bring another four megastars into the room.”

Although it's still unclear what Styles' tracklist will look like, we're certain it will include his chart-topping tune 'Watermelon Sugar'– a track that earnt him a nomination for Best Pop Solo Performance. Naturally, we'll be all eyes and ears when the 63rd Grammy Awards take to our screens next week.
