If you grew up with Scooby-Doo and are now grown enough to appreciate Velma Dinkey - the only non-dum-dum of the entire Scooby gang - you'll be thrilled to know that her character is set for a magnificent reboot to celebrate her intellectual superiority in all its glory.

The TV show is set to be produced and voiced by angel Mindy Kaling, and will hopefully give Velma the justice she deserves after being painted by the 60s show as a bumbling, geeky, underdog of a character. Finally, an accurate portrayal of the only useful member of the group!

While Scooby and Shaggy dealt with their paranoia from likely being stoned all the time, and Fred continued to do the absolute bare minimum except race to save Daphe who seemingly never had her wits about her, Velma was the unsung hero of the show. Sure, her glasses frequently toppled off her head reducing her to her hands and knees to look for them, but she was always one step ahead of the gang intellectually (again, the glasses debacle made the physical element a little iffy.)

Simply entitled Velma, the series will delve into the origin story of the beloved animated sleuth, and has been given a 10-episode order. Kaling will executive produce in addition to starring. Charlie Grandy, Howard Klein, and Sam Register also serve as executive producers. Warner Bros. Animation will produce according to Variety.

The cherry on top? They are also planning on deeming Velma with the sexual liberation she so greatly deserves. “I've said this before but Velma in Mystery Incorporated is not bi,” director of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, Tony Cervone said after posting an image of the character with a pride flag on Instagram. “She's gay. We always planned on Velma acting a little off and out of character while she was dating Shaggy because that relationship was wrong for her and she had unspoken difficulty with the why."
