All the way to Monaco. Hedi Slimane presents his Celine 08 Spring Summer 2021 women’s collection through a documentary style film… and it’s enough to get you dancing.
The collection film opens up to a montage of quintessential Monaco seas and skylines, along with luxurious gold interiors laced with chandeliers and statues - the perfect travel porn for those of us unable to leave the country RN. We then open up to a grand sporting field, the Stade Louis II in Monaco where the runway show takes place.
The beats of Princess Nokia’s I like him (Celine’s extended version) enters as the powerful runway soundtrack, prompting me to spend the entire time bouncing and awkwardly bopping my head to the bass while watching. The incredible sporting venue displays a lush field of green and running track complete with Celine logos, along with an open plan showing off spectacular Monaco mountainous views.
For the Celine 08 collection, Hedi Slimane looked to the younger generation asserting new codes – showing hope and optimism through this scarily uncertain time with the youth who knows their way. A forever Parisian at heart, but with a new energy - the SS 21 woman has a new attitude.
A sporty approach with an athletic silhouette showcases and array of sure-fire sold-out wonders to be next on your wish list. From crop tops in draped silk, sporty bras, cashmere knitwear, sequin dresses, lounge pants, sport jackets, “C’ logo caps, bucket hats and an array of denim in long jeans, shorts and miniskirts. Key pieces such as the classic French blazer and suit will always be collection staples and add a layer of tailored sophistication to relaxed layered looks. For accessories, a new line of Celine flats include white sneakers, black low boots and hiking boots, along with yellow gold jewellery and classic Celine bags.
The Celine 08 Spring Sumer 21 collection is 2020’s perfect aesthetic, from sparkle dress moments and sneakers, to blazers and lounge shorts – anything is acceptable as long as you make it your own. Watch the full collection film below.
