If there's one silver lining that has resolved from the chaos that has been 2020, it has to be the endless celebrity and designer content that has been gracing our social feeds during lockdown. The latest creative making the most of their time at home is none other than Marc Jacobs, who has released a new short-film detailing his time during one of the world's strictest lockdowns in New York City.
The love letter to one of America's most memorable cities, titled, A New York Story, was filmed by Jacobs' assistant and long-time collaborator Nick Newbold, showcasing throughout the 24-minute short-film an insight into the designer's day-to-day quarantine activities. Based in the almost empty Mercer Hotel in Soho, the mockumentary begins from the moment Jacobs' checks-in with his equally famous dogs, Neville and Lady, to when the trio check out 90 days later. The most impressive part – Jacobs' plays every character.
"While in lockdown at the Mercer Hotel the only real, deep, human connection I had was to Nick Newbold," shared Jacobs to Instagram.
"The best friend I could ever wish for. We work together on everything. I trust him with everything. Nick is that guy, the one who if you are lucky, you get the chance to know and grow with all of your life. A truly extraordinary human being that you have the privilege to call your friend. Or as I call him, Nick. #chosenfamily"
The scenes, which are both playful and cinematic (serving us major Wes Anderson vibes), feature several references to an ordinary day in Jacobs' world – getting dressed in a leather Prada suit, applying Marc Jacobs Beauty eyeliner, painting his nails in his signature deep red polish and of course, relaxing in bed with his two pooches.

This isn't the first creative masterpiece Jacobs' has delivered during lockdown, quickly becoming the most unexpected beauty star of 2020 with his 'too-torials'. Sharing the inside scoop on his routine, from how he tints the greys in his beard, to playing around with several covetable beauty items we would love to have in our kit.
It really is Marc Jacobs' world and we would love to be living in it.
