New year, new fashion moments. As we struggle through January, we are distracted by innovation, fresh releases, and optimism. From Balenciaga's fun-inspiring Cities collection, to Chanel's newly released 22 bag, luxury is giving us something to look forward to. On home soil, Lee Matthews new collection, The Shape of Things, arrives, and for Lunar New Year, Burberry is celebrating with a Year of The Tiger collection. Here are 6 fashion moments from the week that was.
The Chanel 22 Bag
Presented for the first time at the Spring-Summer 2022 Ready-to-Wear show, the CHANEL 22 bag combines simplicity and comfort. Functional and light, made of an extremely supple yet resistant leather, this bag comes in three sizes (small, medium and large) and as a backpack version. For summer, it is available in navy blue, purple, and two shades of pink, white and black.
Ever loyal to Gabrielle Chanel desire to give women freedom of movement and spirit, the CHANEL 22 bag is a genuine ally for daily life, adopting the codes of the House, from the quilted leather and metal chain interlaced with leather to the CHANEL signature composed of gold or lacquered metal letters.
Balenciaga Cities series
Balenciaga launches it's Cities series with a campaign created with photographer François Prost, featuring ready-to-wear and accessories, along with Balenciaga’s new Phantom sneaker. Products inspired by local and tourist loyalty to certain cities are available exclusively in Balenciaga stores in the locations that are paid homage to, while Paris-themed Cities pieces and Phantom sneakers are available worldwide.
In conjunction with this Cities launch, Balenciaga also introduces a new addition to its Objects line – a coffee cup which features a varsity-style logo, representative of the store at which it was purchased, in either black on white or white on black.
Stores that offer the cups only offer them labelled with their own city, imbuing the product with a collector’s souvenir aspect.
Burberry releases Year of The Tiger collection
Burberry introduces its Lunar New Year 2022 campaign, inspired by the Year of The Tiger. The campaign stars models Liu Bingbing, Liu Chunjie, Wang Xiangguo and Yang Ling and is captured by photographer Feng Li. The images capture and celebrate the Year of The Tiger’s strong, confident spirit, while displaying the collection which features a tiger stripe animal print in a lucky Tangerine hue that adorns the brands signature Lola and Olympia bags, as well as cashmere scarves and sneakers.
The TB Monogram print is reimagined and introduced in a honey beige hue, punctuated with bright orange B motifs, including the Burberry Heritage Trench, pussy-bow blouses, pleated skirts and Italian-woven nylon jackets for the celebration.
