We're eyes deep in awards season everybody, which means one year's worth of entertainment will be weighed up in a matter of months. While the cogs of Hollywood are churning more ferociously than ever, for most of us this period is marked by an influx of red carpet events (and hopefully a couple of couture moments), a handful of celebrity faux pas, and more fodder for the voracious beast that is Twitter. All of this comes to a head at the 2023 Oscars.
Scheduled for March 13, the 95th Academy Awards will be held at the Dolby Theatre where cinema's biggest names can let their hair down and relish in the fruits of their labour. But before we get there, there's the 2023 Oscar nominations to sift through. Who scraped through, who cleaned up and who were ignored completely? Let's dig in.
First, let's begin with the covetable Best Picture award. Everything Everywhere All at Once is being considered for not only this category, but ten others as well, making it the most nominated flick of the year. Next in line is The Banshees of Inisherin secured nine nominations, as did All Quiet on the Western Front. Another winner is production company A24, who has landed a whopping total of 18 nominations for films like Aftersun (go Paul!), The Whale and Close.
As for the snubs? We can't help but think about Jordan Peele's Nope, She Said, the Viola Davis-led The Woman King and the extremely underrated Emily the Criminal, which have all been left in the dust at the 2023 Oscars.
