Tree Hill is calling. In fashion with much of 2024, where we've run towards works in sequel form, our favourite feuding half-brothers are back on the big screen. While the original One Tree Hill ran for nine seasons on The WB and later The CW, the upcoming sequel is only just beginning, though this time, the women are staking charge. The series was set in the fictional town of Tree Hill, North Carolina, and originally focused on the rivalry between half-brothers Nathan and Lucas. As their lives intersected over basketball, romantic trysts, and familial undoings, the lives of the residents of One Tree Hill became united in scandal. Hilarie Burton starred as Peyton Sawyer while Sophia Bush played Brooke Davis. Danneel Ackles starred as the character Rachel Gatina. The cast also included Chad Michael Murray, James Lafferty, Bethany Joy Lenz, Paul Johansson and Lee Norris.
Two decades later, we will reunite with former best friends Brooke and Peyton as they navigate motherhood and confront issues of relationships, self-doubt and loss. While we have only predictions of where the sequel series will go, we've collated a file on everything we do know about the One Tree Hill addition for your upcoming watch.
Who is appearing in the sequel?
Bush and Burton would reprise their roles from the show with Ackles also in talks to return. While there's no word yet on if other original series stars would also return at this time, we're looking for a cast reunion.
Who is producing the sequel?
Original series stars Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton, and Danneel Ackles are executive producing the reboot. Ackles will executive produce under her Chaos Machine production company along with her husband, Jensen Ackles. Becky Hartman-Edwards (Firefly Lane, Parenthood) is slated to write and executive produce. Warner Bros. Television, which produced the original series, is also producing the followup.
When will the sequel go on air?
There's been no word of a release date from Netflix. As per, once we receive word, we'll let you know here of when you'll get your first second look at One Tree Hill.
